A total of <strong>135 people</strong> registered for the camp, and 107 participants attended, comprising 65 brothers and 42 sisters. Attendees came from nine states: Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra. The Maharashtra Prant took responsibility for organizing the retreat with an 11-member team.</div></div><div><div><div><strong><br/></strong></div><div><strong>Daily Schedule and Activities</strong>: The camp followed a well-structured yet relaxed daily schedule from 4:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., including prayers and chanting, yogasanas and pranayama, shrama sanskar (physical service activity), meditation and japa, lecture sessions and discussions, Q&amp;A sessions, bhajans, and games. Participants were provided with simple, nutritious meals and tea throughout the camp.</div></div></div></div></div>

In his address, he encouraged participants to embrace the Vanaprastha tradition and inspired them to motivate their children and relatives to join Vivekananda Kendra as Jeevanvrati karyakarthas. </span></div>

The conference was held at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari, from February 28 to March 2, 2025, with the participation of 700 attendees, including delegates, guests, and the organizing team.</p><p style="text-align:justify;"><br/></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span>Sixty-five renowned yoga institutions, including Mahatma Gandhi University, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Aarambh Yoga Institute, BARC Yoga Circle, Bihar School of Yoga, Bodhi School of Yoga, GhantaliMitra Mandal, Jadavpur University,&nbsp; Kongunadu Arts and Science College, Kshitij Centre of Yog and Ayurved, Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education &amp; Research, NIMHANS, Sanatana Yoga Vignana Kendra, Sadhguru Yoga Vidyalayam, Satyam Traditional Yoga, Satyananda Yoga Centre, Scientific Pranayama Foundation Trust, Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Academy, SVYASA University, Thane School of Yoga, The World Community Service Centre, Vethathiri Maharishi College of Yoga, Yoga Bharati Foundation, and many others, were represented at the conference. Each session provided deep insights into Yoga Vasistha, demonstrating its relevance to contemporary yoga practice.</span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br/></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:16px;">Several engaging events were conducted as part of the conference, including paper presentations, poster presentations, and Patanjali Yoga Sutra chanting competitions. Over 150 scholars presented their papers across fifteen parallel sessions, held at five different venues over the first two days. Eminent scholars served as moderators, ensuring insightful discussions and guiding the sessions with their expertise. SushmaMaurya,Head of AarambhYog, Mumbai; Sri Raghunandan Ji, author of the book ‘The Wisdom of Vasistha’; Sri AnandSahasrabuddhe Ji, Yoga Teacher from Thane; and Sanyasi Krishnayogam Jifrom the Satyananda Yoga Centre, West Mambalam, Chennai. Their presence added great value to the valedictory ceremony, marking the successful conclusion of Yoga Sastra Sangamam 2025.</div></div></div>

</div><div data-element-id="elm_UD3UBx3DQdu6UcxE9KTQAw" data-element-type="text" class="zpelement zpelem-text "><style></style><div class="zptext zptext-align-center " data-editor="true"><div style="color:inherit;"><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">The <strong>Foundation course in Yoga</strong> was held at Vivekanand Kendra, Kanyakumari along with the new batch of yoga certificate courses from 22nd November to 06<sup>th</sup> December 2024.&nbsp; 52 participants attended the Shivir who came from various states like Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh and Maharashtra.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Formal reporting &amp; registration started on the morning on 21st November and an introductory session was held the same day in the evening after Bhajan sandhya post supper wherein participants were given orientation for the camp.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">The camp was conducted in Hindi and English Languages and accordingly, participants were organized into 7 different groups that were named after starships atri, Pulah, pulastya, marichi, vashishth, kratu and angiras.....</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">The 15-day camp had morning prayers, Yoga Asana-Pranayama practices, Shramsanskar, Lectures, Group discussions, Chanting practice, Bhajan sandhyas and Prerana se punrutthan sessions.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">In yoga practicals, participants were taught loosening exercises, Suryanamaskaras and various Aasanas. In Pranayama they were trained into a practice of different pranayamas in a systematic way.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Theory lectures comprised sessions on the Concept of Yoga, Yama, Niyama, Aasana-Pranayama, pratyahara, Antrang Yoga, Kriyas-Bandhas-Mudras, Bhagavad Geeta, Karmyoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana yoga, Anand Mimansa, yoga and health and Indian Culture.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">There were lectures about Swami Vivekananda, Ma. Eknathji, Vk thought movement, vk activities, Kendra Prarthana and Sanghe Shakti Kaliyuge.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">All these lectures were followed by Manthan ie. Group discussions to enhance the understanding of subjects.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">In Geet mantra, Abhyas sessions participants were taught various chantings that included Shantimantra, Aikyamantra, Pratahsmaran Prayer, Bhagavad Geeta Karmyogshlok Samgraha and Shivir Geet along with other chants and songs.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Participants did shuddhikriyas Jalneti, Sutraneti and Vaman dhauti twice during the shivir. They also practised Trataka in a session and experienced Omkar Dhyana, Cyclic Meditation and Yoga Nidra.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Daily Bhajan Sandhyas were held in the evenings which helped emotional culturing through chanting of devotional Bhajans.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Pure and Sattvik food was devised for a daily diet that supported the Yoga Sadhana of participants throughout the camp.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Shramsanskar sessions helped participants cultivate an attitude of service and self-sufficiency by working on campus cleaning.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Prerana se Punrutthan sessions were comprised of games, story of VRM, sutra chanting, introspection, Question answers and cultural performances.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">All took part in a Kendra Varga on the first Sunday during the shivir. Participants visited Vivekanand Rock Memorial on 27th November and Had Darshan of Kanyakumari Devi Temple &amp; nearby places.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">On 1st December all were taken for a Trek to Marutvamalai Hill and on 4th December they went for a campus visit where they saw Ramayan Darshanam, Vivekananda pictorial exhibition and Gangotri. </span></p><p style="text-align:justify;margin-bottom:13px;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">The shivir went on well in a congenial, spiritual atmosphere with moderate discipline and affection.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:11pt;">Many of the participants have expressed their willingness to devote their time and energy for the service of society through Kendra's activities.</span></p></div></div>

The retreat featured two parallel Shibirs: one conducted in English with 24 participants (19 brothers and 5 sisters) and the other in Hindi with 28 participants (17 brothers and 11 sisters), totaling 52 participants. Attendees hailed from 15 different states across Bharat, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.</div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;">Participants reported to the Training Centre on August 7th, settled into their accommodations, and received their Shibir kits. The retreat commenced with a Bhajan Sandhya on the evening of August 7th, followed by an introduction session where the organizing team, schedule, and code of conduct were presented. The regular schedule began on August 8th.</span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><div style="color:inherit;"><div>The Shibir's daily routine began at 5:15 a.m. with Guided Meditation, Pratahsmaran, and Gita Pathan (Bhagavad Gita Chanting), followed by Yoga Abhyas, Breakfast, Shramasanskar, Shramaparihar, Session 1, Swadhyaya (Group Discussion), Mantra Chanting, Lunch, Tea, Session 2, Yoga Abhyas &amp; Meditation, Intune with Nature, Bhajan Sandhya, Prerana Se Punarutthan (Happy Assembly), and concluded with Atmavalokan (Introspection) and Supper at 8:15 p.m.</div><div><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div><span style="color:inherit;">Participants were grouped into six Ganahs (groups) named after Rishis and Rishikas: Agasthya, Kashyap, and Markandeya for English participants; Gargi, Maitreyi, and Kathyayani for Hindi participants. Shramasanskar, Swadhyaya, and food serving were conducted Ganah-wise. Activities like Guided Meditation, Pratahsmaran, Gita Pathan, Shramasanskar, Bhajan Sandhya, and Prerana Se Punarutthan were conducted together for both English and Hindi participants.</span><br></div><div><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div><span style="color:inherit;">Lecture sessions, held separately for English and Hindi participants, covered various topics such as the Concept of Spirituality, Different Streams of Yoga (Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga, and Karma Yoga), Kendra Prarthana, Swami Vivekananda, Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Maa Sharada, Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Ananda Mimamsa (Happiness Analysis), Sadhana, and Indian Culture. Group discussions followed each morning session, allowing participants to discuss and present their points Ganah-wise.</span></div><div><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div><div style="color:inherit;"><div>Yoga Abhyas was conducted separately in the morning and evening for English and Hindi participants. They were taught various loosening exercises, Surya Namaskaram, Asanas, Pranayama, Yogic Relaxation techniques, and Meditation techniques. Participants also learned to chant Pratahsamarana Strotra, Aikya Mantra, Santi Pat, Bhagavad Gita Slokas, Bhojana Mantra, and Yogasana Mantras during the Mantra Chanting session.</div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">Every evening, after Bhajan Sandhya, participants engaged in Prerana Se Punarutthan with games, creative activities, action songs, patriotic songs, Lingashtakam, Hanuman Chalisa, inspiring stories, and brief explanations of Vivekananda Kendra activities. The day concluded with Atmavalokan.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">On the evening of August 10th, participants visited exhibitions at the Vivekanandapuram Campus, including Gangotri, Arise! Awake! (Pictorial Exhibition), and Ramayana Darshanam &amp; Bharat Mata Sadanam. The Bhajan Sandhya and Prerana Se Punarutthan were conducted in front of the Sri Hanumanji Statue. On August 11th, participants enjoyed the sunrise from the Vivekanandapuram beach and visited the Swami Vivekananda Mandapam and Mananeeya Eknathji Samadhi. On August 12th, participants, along with the organizing team, visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Devi Kanyakumari Temple, and Wandering Monk Exhibition.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">On the morning of August 13th, a special session explained the functioning of Vivekananda Kendra Branch Centres, Utsavs, and the Patron Scheme, along with information on how to join Kendra as a Karyakarta. Many participants expressed interest in the Patron Scheme and in associating with local Kendra Centres. In the evening, a video on the construction of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial was shown, followed by a display of Vivekananda Kendra's digital content.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">On the final day, August 14th, after Guided Meditation, Pratahsmaran, Gita Pathan, and Shramasanskar, an interaction session was held where participants sat prant-wise (state-wise) and shared their individual experiences. Karyakartas guided them on how to connect with local Kendra Branch Centres. The concluding session was presided over by Mananeeya Sri Hanumatha Rao Ji, All India Vice President of VRM&amp;VK, who addressed and blessed the participants.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">The Shibir was organized by a team of 12 Karyakartas from Dakshin Prant, under the guidance of Shibir Adhikari, Adharneeya Sri Ravi Sharma Ji, All India Yoga Pramukh. Sri Raghunathan Ji, Kerala Vibhag Pravasi Karyakarta, and Kum. Sumitra Didi, Tamil Nadu Vibhag Pravasi Karyakarta, served as Shibir Pramukhs for the English and Hindi sessions, respectively. The delegates are from 16 states (Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Bengal, Bihar &amp; Delhi) of Bharat and eight other countries (USA, Japan, Bali, Australia, Canada, Ethiopia, Namibia, Tanzania).</div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><span style="color:inherit;">Thirty-three renowned Yoga and Sanskrit institutions (Academy of Yoga Consciousness, Amrita Vidyalaya, Arunayoga Training &amp; Research Institute, Bharat Yoga Vidyalaya, Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Central University of Kerala, Chaitanya Wellness Yoga Academy, Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth, DAVV School of Yoga, Indian Yoga Association, Karnataka Samskrita University, Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Kusha Yoga, Mahatma Gandhi University, Bodhi School of Yoga, NIMHANS, Padma Yoga Sadhana Terna Medical Collage, PSGR, Sadhana Jyoti Mandir, Sanatana Yoga Kendra, Sanchi University of Buddhist Indic Studies, Sataguru Yoga Vidyalaya, Shri Ambika Yoga Kutir, Shri krushna Yoga Institute, Sree Shankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Sreepuram Yoga Mandir, SVYASA, University of Patanjali, Yenepoya Naturopathy and Yoga Medical College, Yoga Bharati, Yoga Certificate Board, Ministry of Ayush, Yoga Vidya Niketan, Yogaarthi) were represented in this Sangamam.&nbsp; There were four plenary and twelve parallel sessions at four venues.&nbsp; There were 124 scholarly papers presented from 20 Yogopanishads. Daily in the morning, on an average 100 delegates participated in the Patanjala Homam, performed with the chanting of the Yoga Sutras and the 108 names of Maharashi Patanjali.</span><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><span style="color:inherit;">World-renowned Yoga and Ayurveda Acharya Vamadeva Shastri Dr David Frawley was present along with Yogini Shambhavi Devi for all three days. Mananeeya Sri Balakrishnanji, President Vivekananda Rock Memorial &amp; Vivekananda Kendra, Acharya Vamadeva Shastri, Yogini Shambhavi, Dr Harilakshmeendra Kumar, Honorable Director of Centre for Yoga and Naturopathy, Mahatma Gandhi University, Yogasri Sri NV Raghuram, Founder Director Yoga Bharathi, Bengaluru blessed the delegates with their were presence.&nbsp;</span><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><span style="color:inherit;">In his inaugural address, Dr David Frawley emphasised the importance and necessity of such conferences to unearth the contents and knowledge of Yogopanishads in the present world, wherein yoga has been getting recognition for mere health and fitness. The effect of such philosophical conferences will correct the direction of understanding of Yoga in theory and practice.</span><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><br></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><span style="color:inherit;">A 174-page Conference proceedings containing the abstracts and synopsis of all the papers presented was released during the Inaugural function. Delegates were treated with an enthralling dance recital by the students of VKMHSS, Kanyakumari. Total number of 419 participants consisting of 212 men and 207 women participated from 16 states of Bharat, from Singapore, Bali and Afghanistan.</div><div style="color:inherit;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="color:inherit;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;">During this international conference 5 plenary sessions and 11 parallel sessions were held. 115 papers were presented by research scholars, PhD. Students, professors, Yoga teachers, Yoga practitioners and Yoga consultants. Swami Shivananda Babaji from Varanasi aged 127 years who is the recipient of Padmashree award was present in the Yoga Sastra Sangamam on 24th and 25th February. His Divine presence and Yogic life style was an inspiration and blessing to everyone.&nbsp; Presence of a living Yogi was an illustration of Yoga Sastra. The book containing the proceedings of the conference was released during the inaugural session.</span></div><div style="color:inherit;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="color:inherit;text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;">The conference was co-organised with Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala and Central University of Himachal Pradesh, Dharmashala. There were delegates from leading universities, institutions and organizations. Conference was inaugurated by Swami Shivanandaji and graced by Mananeeya Balakrishnanji, President of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra and Mananeeya Nivedita Bhide Didi, Vice president of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra.&nbsp;</span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;">On all three days, Patanjali Homam was conducted at the Ushodaya time and concurrently Patanjali Ashtottaram and Yoga Sutras were chanted by the delegates. The beautiful soul elevating dance recital by the students of VKV Kanyakumari added the colour to the Conference. Some of the students and delegates demonstrated advanced Asanas. There were five winners out of the eleven delegates who participated in the Patanjali Yoga Sutra chanting competition.</span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align:justify;"><span style="color:inherit;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">Mananeeya Bhanudasji Dhakras</span>, General Secretary of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra addressed the delegates in the valedictory function held on 26th February.</span></div></div></div>

The National Conference was organised with the collaboration of Centre for Yoga and Naturopathy, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala and supported by Indian Yoga Association. Dr Jayaraman Mahadevan of IndicA Yoga explained in four sessions the depth of Hatha Pradipika Text. His sessions were highly appreciated by one and all for the scholarly exposition of this important Yoga Sastra in detail. On 25th evening there was a grand cultural fete by the students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Kanyakumari.</span></div></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><span style="color:inherit;"><br></span></div><div style="text-align:justify;color:inherit;"><div style="color:inherit;"><div>The Yoga Sastra Sangamam was inaugurated by the Honourable Governor of Kerala <span style="font-weight:bold;">Sri Arif Mohammed Khan</span>. He in his inaugural address traced the roots of Yoga in Vedas, Upanishads, Astavakra Gita and the traditional texts. He summed up with the message of yoga to the modern age. Honourable Governor also released the ‘Conference Proceedings’ containing all the abstracts of the paper presentations and the Vivekananda Kendra Patrika titled ‘The Saga of Vivekananda Rock Memorial’.</div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">Mananeeya Nivedita Bhide</span>, Vice President, Vivekananda Kendra in her inspiring scholarly address explained the importance of Sastra and Science. She emphasised that yoga is the life based on the foundations of Dharma.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;"><span style="font-weight:bold;">Dr Harilakshmeendrakumar</span>, Director, Centre for Yoga Naturopathy, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala expressed his happiness for collaborating with such a unique national conference on Yoga Sastra.</span><br></div><br><div><span style="color:inherit;">Simultaneously three multi track paper presentation sessions were held at three different venues in which 70 scholarly papers were presented by Yoga Professionals, Phd. Research Scholars, Doctorates in Yoga and Sanskrit. There are 10 foreign delegates, seven from Afghanistan and three from Nepal. Three key note addresses were given by Dr K Subrahmanyam of Svyasa, Sri NV Raghuram from Yoga Bharati, Bangalore and Dr TV Padmanabhan from Mahatma Gandhi University. The Yoga Sastra Sangamam was concluded on 27th February with Patanjala Yoga Sutra Parayanam led by Dr Jayaraman Mahadevan.</span><br></div></div></div></div></div>
